Hello! My name is Raeya, I’ve lived in Portland for 5 years now and I absolutely love it here. It’s so incredibly beautiful and i’ve made a lovely community of friends. I’m originally from Tucson Arizona which is also a very special place. I’ve been writing almost all my life and hope to be published some day. I love music and all things nature. I value kindness and genuine connections. I’ve been around kids all my life as the oldest sibling of four. I spent a lot of time growing up watching my siblings and the younger kids in my community. Growing up I started babysitting around town and volunteered at my preschool over the summer before highschool. Over the past few years I’ve worked in a preschool and done quite a bit of nannying. At the preschool I worked mostly with ages 1 and two with some experience in Read more the older classrooms ranging 3 to 5 years old. I learned the individual needs of each child and helped them adjust to the general routine of the classroom. There was consistent documentation of each child’s growth, activities and projects that was hung around the classroom and shown to parents. I became familiar with different teaching methods such as Rye and Montessori. I also have the Food Handlers Certificate as well as CPR certification and multiple training certificates from The Oregon Center for Career Development in Childhood Care and Education. Every child is different and learning to understand their individual needs and experiences helped me cultivate connection and trust with them. This is so extremely important and I will always make an effort to do so as it is impactful to the child’s growth and development. Continuing from the preschool I was a nanny for a family with a newborn and 2 year old. Most of my day was focused on the care of the baby with occasional help with the older child, along with tidying around the house and care of the family dog. While newborn care is much more structured and individually focused than that of toddler care I enjoy them both the same. Aside from the basics of feeding, changing and implement safe sleep practices, including age appropriate growth exercises and play such as tummy time, reading and eye coordination is just as important. I have ample experience with the intricacies of care for each age group and I am confident I can meet your child’s needs as well as make them feel loved and safe. Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to meeting you and your kiddo!
