I have been working in early childhood education since graduating college with a sociology degree in 2009. I have experience teaching and caring for children from newborn to 5 years old. In an early childhood classroom I am used to working alone with 4 infants or one year olds, 8:2-3 year olds, or 10:3-5 year old children. I have reliable transportation and a significant amount of experience with infants and young children. I am very nurturing, thoughtful, caring, responsible, energetic, positive, and optimistic! I am also skilled at communicating with parents and making sure we are all on the same page. I love getting down on the child's level (on the floor!) and really helping them to experience and learn new things. I always look for new ways to go above and beyond. In addition to the main duties, I love to incorporate early learning activities! I love helping infants, Read more toddlers and older children explore and discover new cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and language skills. I also enjoy art projects/crafts, nature, science experiments, teaching early math skills, dancing, singing and reading with children of all ages. I understand the importance of early education and the stages of child development. In addition to working directly with infants and young children, I climbed the ranks at a corporate childcare center. I started as Assistant Teacher, then promoted to Lead Teacher and finally Education Coordinator. In the final role, I supervised teachers and assisted them with creating educational lesson plans and understanding the needs of the children in their care. My husband received a promotion with his job and I was able to leave the office life behind and had the opportunity to look for more meaningful work, one on one with infants and young children, which is something I truly love. I found work as a nanny with an amazing family that I miss dearly. I had a 10 month old girl (S) and 4 year old boy (T) in my care. Each day we did educational activities (for each child) in the morning before taking T to his preschool. Then, S and I would then do individualized activities for her such as painting, gross motor activities, science experiments, reading books, exploring textures, singing songs, etc. We also went on small outings to parks and libraries. Each day was different and provided opportunities for each child to learn something new while also maintaining a schedule. The only reason I am not with them now is because my husband was transferred from Kansas City, MO to Salem, Oregon through his job. I am now looking for a new child to care for and educate.
