When I was a senior at Beaverton High School, I took a child development class and worked at Sorrento Daycare for two years before going into my family's music business. I had two children of my own (wanted at least six but, alas, that was not to be), then met and married my current husband and gained grandchildren! I have 9 of them (some step and the rest "adopted"). My eldest son graduated from Scappoose High with honors and went into the National Guard and is starting Portland State in the fall, my youngest graduated as Valedictorian and just graduated from Pacific University, Magna Cum Laude with a major in Biology and another in Music (yes, I'm crowing). All my grandchildren are in their teens now and don't need a babysitter anymore. My philosophy about raising kids ~ It takes a village to raise a child AND the more loving, Read more positive and influential people in your child's life, the better! I would rather read storybooks (chapter books for the older set) and play board games (expert at Candy Land, Sorry and Cribbage) than watch TV or play video games. If it's raining and playing outside isn't possible, we will learn to bake chocolate chip cookies and scrambled eggs (I love to cook). I have a membership to the Oregon Zoo for sunny spring, summer and autumn days, and an OMSI membership for those wet winter days. TV is a special event with a Disney movie and some popcorn or other treat but only once in awhile. I LOVE MUSIC! I will sing to your baby while we are rocking in the chair, and we WILL dance to disco music because I carry my iPhone and speaker with me (yes...I embarrass my 8 year old niece with my fantastic dance moves). I'm a stickler about homework....let's turn that chore into a fun experience! If your child is learning to play the recorder in elementary school or a band instrument in 6th grade, I can tutor at no additional charge and I will make sure they practice on a daily basis. I'm dependable, flexible, and willing to adopt your cherished child as one of my own. I will text and/or email you daily pictures of our adventures! Kids are my calling and bonding and communication are the keys to a successful relationship. I live in Scappoose, but commuting is not an issue. I am willing to cook meals and do light housekeeping!

I'm writing because although we didn't end up hiring Lori to be our nanny, I thought she would have done an excellent job and definitely deserves a chance. She was very responsive over sitter city, and she was punctual to our in person interview. The only reason we didn't end up hiring her is because a family friend got us in touch with their nanny who they didn't need anymore (and they raved about). I would definitely ask Lori to babysit for us if we ever needed someone in the future. -Karen
