I am a nanny living in Canonsburg looking for full time or nearly full time work. My ideal job would be with a family who sees my position lasting 3 - 5 (or more!) years but I am open to other situations. I have been working with children for seven years (babysitting, summer nanny, church nurseries) and working in a professional childcare environment (daycare/preschool and full time nannying) for five of those seven. I believe taking care of young children is a great responsibility and I take it seriously. I believe in providing a loving and safe environment for children to learn and grow. I like planning art activities, sensory play, nature walks, and outdoor excursions for my charges. I think it's important to take note of their interests and find ways to create learning experiences and lessons from there. But the all-time best way to learn is through play and I always want to make sure children get plenty of time to have child-led play time. I follow a positive discipline model and try my hardest to make sure every child in my care feels heard and respected. Connecting with parents is important to me. I feel like my role as a nanny is to apply all of the knowledge I have gained over the years (from direct instruction, certified trainings, and reading esteemed child development authors) and help parents raise happy and healthy kids while also balancing working full or part time jobs. The easiest way to partner with parents is to always assure we are on the same page. Great communication is a must. At the end of the day, I absolutely love being a nanny; it is a highly rewarding job. I enjoy being part of a family and getting the privilege of watching little ones grow into their own voice and personality. I wouldn't choose to do anything else with my time.
