I am a caregiver at heart and enjoy looking after children, elderly, and those with illnesses. I am single and childless, with experience as a nanny of infants and small children; I’m the oldest grandchild of 10 and an aunt to 12 nieces and nephews, so have significant and varied experience with many personalities and development levels. As a former lifeguard, I am experienced in CPR, though do not currently hold a certification (can obtain if necessary). I have also been a caregiver to two parents with long term illnesses, including end of life care, and a caregiver for 18 months to an elderly man living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I am a non-smoker with no criminal history, and with my own transportation and a clean driving record. I worked in organic agriculture for 18 years, but am looking to change careers (to Clinical Mental Health Counseling, slowly but surely Read more working on completing my degrees) and hope to work in caregiving as I make this long term shift. As a child caregiver, my natural inclination is to allow for safe exploration with gentle discipline; though maintaining consistency with what the parent needs and wants is extremely important (I am very open and willing to allow children to explore and learn at their pace and development, in a safe environment, but also reinforce the parent’s rules of the home and prefer strong communication with parents about what they need and want for their children - it’s about facilitating the environment the parent wants). I am very artistic and enjoy fostering creativity through play and crafts. I have experience with pets as well and am comfortable with both dogs and cats. Thank you for considering me!
