My children are all grown. I have been working at a large Commercial Lending Office and would like the flexibility of childcare. I have taught all of my children at home and they have are all successfully grown up and are on their own. I am certified by the red cross in CPR. I have experience with ASD as well as Sensory integration disorder… for over 20 years. I have many references including child care references that I currently work for. The children that I care for now love me and we have a fabulous relationship. I also have experience with twin multiples … over 4 years caring for my daughters two sets of twins. I have work references that I will gladly supply if requested.

My schedule is very flexible since all five of my children have moved out on their own. My background: I homeschooled my children to 8th grade (some other them but not all). I was a Sunday School teacher for many years to teenaged girls and elementary grade levels. I studied Special Education and Computer Science. Ended up programming computers for over 20 years. I always wanted to teach and be a caregiver even though Software Developing served my family well. I now am fulfilling my desires as a Substitute teacher of all ages and I am a part time care giver to a lady with Parkinson's Disease. My name is Sandy, and I live in Pottstown. I am married, have 2 grown boys, a 9 yr old granddaughter, and a 3 year old grandson. I am the youngest of 11 children, so I come from a big family. I drive a 2013 Hyundai and do not have any allergies, or fears, of pets. I worked at the Goddard School, in Sanatoga, for 18 months as an Assistant Teacher. My room had 2-3 year olds. I especially enjoyed reading and playing with the children. I believe each child is unique and special in their own way. After leaving the Goddard School, I chose to care for children in their own homes, for many different families. I was told by many parents, when first meeting their child, that they didn't always take to a person, as quickly as they did to me. In 2014, I was on call, from 6 pm to 2 am, 3-4 days a week, for a year. Her mother, was an aide, to a midwife. She was 3 months old when I started. Whether it was in the middle of the night, (many times) or early in the evening, I enjoyed every minute with her. Hi! My name is Katie, and I am a single mom to 2 kids (now young adults 😩)! I have so much love to give, and hope I can give some to your kids too! I was working at an in-home daycare from 2017-2020, but we were closed down due to Covid-19, and my boss then made the decision to not re-open. I LOVED my job mostly bc I loved the kids! I used to own my own daycare back in early 2005- late 2006 but moved to PA from NH and had to close it down. After the daycare closed (in 2020), I spent the next 3 years nannying for 2 different families from the daycare- part time each- for kids the ages of 4 months, 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7 (when I started). Most recently have 2 families with 2 kids each- ages 2, 3, 3, and 5- (started when they were 1 week old, 1, 1 and 3). To give you an idea how I run things- a typical day will look like this: I like to keep the kids on a routine- morning free play, snack, walk (if the neighborhood allows for this with sidewalks etc), craft or coloring sheet/worksheet, lunch, dance “party” usually follows lunch, could be a video with a dance they love like freeze dance or shake your sillies out or we’ll play a board game or do flash cards or puzzles, playtime, storytime, nap time for littles (if there are any), harder craft/games for older kids who don’t nap if they want one, quiet activities if not, I also utilize this time to clean up morning mess and the kitchen from lunch etc. Then it's end of nap time (2 hours), snack, outside play (chalk, bubbles, hopscotch, water games when it's hot etc). I bring all the stuff for crafts, games, and outside play. I also utilize a “prize bucket” if the kids have trouble with listening or getting into routine with the rest of the kids (if there are any). I firmly believe in positive reinforcement over punishment so every time they show good listening skills or do something helpful, they get to pick a prize out of the bucket. For older kids (ages 4+), it works a little differently but still get prizes. I also really enjoy taking the kids to activities/events away from home. We regularly visit local parks, libraries, indoor play places. I will be available Tuesday, Thursday, and weekends starting in June and then also M,W,F starting mid-August. I can start/end whatever hours you need. 😊
