Naturally, every family is different and every child reacts differently- gaining the trust and respect of the child is most important. If a child doesn't respect you, they rarely listen to you. I don't believe in anger, violence, or threats to force children into behaving, most children simply desire to feel that you respect and understand them. On that same thought, I am looking for a job where I will be respected for what I do and be happy doing it. I am on your child’s team with you! I believe one thing that a caregiver requires is organization and patience. Children need to have a sense of stability, but also allowed to have a bit of freedom in their own decisions. A successful caregiver is able to give individual, one on one attention, and then also as a group, making each child feel special. Children respond instinctively to my Read more nurturing and positive energy. I have found over the years that using my sanguine and outgoing personality makes it possible to encourage children to complete tasks that they may not want to do. While being a friend and a cheerleader is a big part of my job it is equally important that I be a calm, reassuring, and loving mentor when a child needs me to be. My ability to provide security and the feeling of safety for children and their parents is one of my most valued strengths. I establish emotional connections with young people very quickly which has allowed me to not only to determine the emotional needs of the children I care for but also helps me be in tune with the needs of the family and offer assistance or suggestions when appropriate. I believe everyday a child can learn just as easily as they play. I am currently taking an online Spanish course, I love playing at the park, walking bike paths, visiting the bookstore, crafts, and trips to the museum. At the age of nine I accepted my first babysitting opportunity that blossomed into friendship with a family that lasts to today. I have since felt that any career that I chose would involve children. Being a Nanny allows me to not only be surrounded by children but to use my skills and experience to help develop them into happy and healthy young people. I feel good helping parents with their most treasured gifts, their children.
