Meet Mary

I'm from a large Italian family, oldest daughter with 6 siblings. My first job was as a "mother's helper" for a family with 5 children when I was 12. Throughout my school years (middle school through college), I earned spending money by taking care of children... regular baby sitting; taking children on field trips to the park or zoo; helping older kids with homework. When I graduated nursing school, it seemed only natural to gravitate to Pediatrics, where I worked in the general pediatric ward; the Pediatric ICU and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology units at MUSC Children's Hospital in Charleston SC. Eventually, I chose to work with children as they grew and became a school nurse in Charleston, where I worked in all levels, elementary, middle and high schools for 14 years and even started a nursing program for the 45 after school programs in the district. I love children, being a Read more part of their lives, teaching them to grow healthy and strong, not simply tend to them when they're sick.
