Hi, thanks for checking out my profile! My name is Sarah, I'm 21 and just transferred into College of Charleston. Like many, I spent my teenage years babysitting my way through high school. My most significant caregiving experiences, however, have been within this past year, working at a sleep away camp, and as a nanny. At the camp, I worked as a general counselor based in visual arts, so I spent my days teaching classes for 6-17-year-olds and my evenings and nights minding a cabin of 14, 12-13-year-olds. My time there helped me realize that I want to spend my life working with kids. The major I had been pursuing was not super compatible with that, so I decided to take a year off from school. I then spent my fall working as a live-in nanny of 3 sweethearts (1, 3, 5) in Spain, and summer working locally as a nanny of 2 lovely little girls (1, 4). I grew up in a large family of eight children and I currently have four nephews and one niece, so I have been surrounded by children my entire life. My mother is a retired Kindergarten Teacher, my eldest sister is an English Professor, and all of my other sisters are teachers or nurses as well, so nurturing and caring for others has always been a focus in my family. I worked as a babysitter as a teen and from there branched into working in childcare, where I have worked for over fifteen years.
