I truthfully cannot remember my first childcare experience, but I believe it was when I was about 12 and my sister was 6 and I was responsible for taking care of her while my mother worked full time. My mom has always called me a mother hen. I babysat all through school, and afterwards when my friends started having babies I have always been the one they call for help and advice. I have assisted during pregnancy, hospital stays for birth, bringing baby home and settling in, being regular childcare for infants as young as 6 weeks old and as old as 13, and I love it all. I have done doctors appointments, school activities And drop off/pick up, extracurriculars, etc. I particularly enjoy being a nanny versus a sitter. Children are not a job to me. They require safety and care, yes, but they also require love. It takes a village, and I am happy to be a part of that village.
