I am a very recently retired speech- language pathologist with years a years of experience working with children from infancy through adulthood. I have experience working with children who have special needs including autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, and physical limitations. I raised my own child who has ADHD and high-functioning autism, in addition to being an auntie to a niece who has autism and cerebral palsy and a nephew who has Aspergers. I also know sign language quite well and have used it in a professional capacity. As a former public schools employee, I have been background checked and fingerprinted and I’m happy to provide references! I truly love working with children and their parents.

My name is Cathy and I have been working with children for over 30 years. My grandmother was the director of the First United Methodist Nursey School in Santa Monica, California where I would spend days playing and reading to children starting at the age of 13. I nannied for 6 month old twins in the summer of my junior year of high school and for two older children full time the following summer. In college I worked at Greenlake After School Program in Seattle as a teaching assistant for ages 5-12 years my junior and senior years. In the summers during college I traveled back to California where I worked again at the nursery school as a teacher for the three year old group. My responsibilities included playground supervision, art and reading activities, lunch prep and nap time supervision. I graduated from the University of Washington and moved to Spokane where I worked at the YMCA in the three year old room and substituted in the infant room frequently. I married into the military and had three children of my own who are now in their teens. We have all frequently helped watch children of our military friends and still help babysit as well as pet sit/ foster. I have been certified in first aid and CPR numerous times and can provide references upon request. Put simply, I love being around children! They are such a joy and I find happiness in helping provide a safe and nurturing environment for them to learn and grow. I respect their feelings and feel confident in my ability to provide a routine with structure, yet can adjust to their needs if the occasion arises with patience and care.

I have first aid and CPR certifications, I have babysat for 4 years and I have a 10 year old sister. I have my own car as well as very open hours! I can even work over night on weekends. I’d love to get to know you!

I really enjoy caregiving for children because making the connections with the children and the families mean a lot to me. I have been babysitting for nearly 3 years now, I’m currently a preschool teacher and a part-time nanny. With having those jobs I have experience in driving children to their activities, light meal prepping and light housekeeping. I am a people person so getting to build strong relationships with families is important to me. Watching children learn and grow is also my favorite thing. The progress they make no matter how big or small is truly amazing to watch.

I was with the YMCA before and after school care program for a year as a Director. I was an Assistant Director for a Preschool center this past year and a half. I am CPR/First Aid certified. I have an associates in early childhood education. I am 32 years old with a beautiful 14 year old daughter. I love children and animals. It always amazes me watching little ones learn and grown into their own individual selves.

I have taken medical assistant classes, and worked with children and adults as a caregiver for over 15 years. I owned and operated my own daycare center, and was assistant director at Kidzone daycare and learning center. I taught preschool for several years.
