I grew up in Michigan and started working with kids when I was in 7th grade. The newborn and a 3 year old girl that I initially began babysitting are now on their way to graduating middle/highschool, and I continue to have a great relationship with them and their family to this day. Working with children isn't just a job to me, it's a passion of mine. Having the opportunity to bring out the most creative, bubbly, and silly sides of a child while also teaching them about the world and environment around them is what I enjoy most about being a nanny. After graduating high school, I continued to nanny for the same two girls over the summers. I was also an assistant teacher for a daycare. I gained more experience working with newborns to 5 year old's doing everything from caring for the infants, to doing arts and Read more crafts and setting up field trips for the older ones. I do great with potty training, leading activities, and bathing children (little ones can sure have lots of accidents :) ) When I moved to Austin, I was a live-in nanny for a wonderful family. I cared for two kids (4&6) and occasionally spent time traveling and going on day trips with them and their mom as well. I love to help in any way I can. Plus, I think it's important that we all really get to know one another to ensure we're on the same page and that I'm meeting your expectations, vice versa. When it was just me and the kids, I'd do and all sorts of activities with them. I would take them swimming (I was a swimmer for my middle and high school teams, so giving kids lessons is something I can definitely assist parents with), on picnics/to playgrounds and supervise playdates with their friends. Driving them to and from their extra curricular activities was typical, and I'd always find time to fit in reading/creative play at home. Going out to places is great, but exploring how to have a great time with just your own house and backyard can be fun, too! My work schedule with that family was somewhat limited - I was only needed about 3 days a week, so I also applied for (and was offered) a position at a preschool in North Austin. - I learned a lot working there in regards to the importance of teaching kids motor skill activities; I also worked with the students daily to get them ready for kindergarten. That involved practicing letters, numbers, writing, and even reading for some of the students. I can't fit much more in this in regards my experience, but I have more! Just ask.
