I would like to give you an idea of what I offer and who I am. My experience caring for children started many years ago in middle school, when I babysat for my neighbors children. In my teens, I worked as a camp counselor on a military base. During college, I was a live-in nanny for 5 children, aged 2 to 12, on Cape Cod. After I graduated from U. Mass. I moved to the Cape, raised my son and sent him off to college. In 1998, I followed said son to Austin and worked as a paralegal in several small firms until I left law in 2015. Between 1973 and today, I raised my son on my own and am now very involved in my grandson's life. He is nine and I see him every day. I got my experience through living it, with one day following another. In addition, shortly after deciding on a new direction for my next chapter in life, I took an eight hour child development course and received my certificate of completion. I am certified in infant/pediatric first aid and CPR. I can do laundry, meal preparation, chores and errands. I will snuggle and soothe a fussy baby, change a diaper, play games and read lots of books. I believe that reading is THE most important thing you can do for your child at any age. In the summer of 2016, I worked as an Instructor for Bricks 4 Kidz, a brick and mortar store in N. Austin, at a series of summer camps throughout Austin and several surrounding school districts. It was a wonderful experience but I still love the little ones the best. My most recent position was with a three year old boy who was my partner in play for five months and I still babysit for him on occasion. Currently I work for a young mother, staying with her two boys while she works at night. However, I would love to find an additional position that offers more responsibility and involvement. I am mature, sensible & pragmatic but I embrace life; joyous, grateful and positive in spirit; fantastically funny; loyal and punctual. I can cook a yummy grill cheese or a delicious pasta. I am healthy and fit with a clean driving record per DPS. I am certified in infant/pediatric first aid and CPR. I may not have all the answers, but I know where to find them.
