Hello, my name is Shantel, and I would absolutely love the opportunity to work with you and your family. I absolutely love children, and love to make them happy. I want to mention that I'm on the autism spectrum, but just barely. I function just like anyone else. I drive, live on my own, and do all my own shopping and everything. I'm hoping to find a family who understands me, and is a good fit. I have experience with helping one of my friends mom run a daycare out of her home. I started in January of 2012, and stopped at the beginning of 2013, because they left the state of Texas. I sadly have no contact with them anymore, but really enjoyed it while I was there. I worked with newborns, all the way up to the ages of 5. When I worked with the newborns, I gave Read more bottles, rocked them to sleep, held them, and walked them around, changed diapers, and calmed them when they were upset. For the older ones, I did crafts with them, like painting, coloring, and making their handprints on paper. I helped with snacks, lunches, nap time, recess, and got them ready to go home. (This job was paid, but in cash.) I have experience with volunteering at a daycare called Kings Kids before they closed down. I started in December of 2013, to November 2015. I worked with the 1, 2, and 3 year olds. I calmed children who were upset, taught them how to write their names, and learn their letters/numbers, snack time, washing hands, lunch time, played with them with their toys, and recess. I was a teacher's assistant. I have experience volunteering at an elementary school helping special needs students. The ages of the kids were 5 up to 8. The school was called Excellent Minds Academy. I started there at the very end of 2015, and ended at the beginning of 2017 because they moved far away from where I lived, and I could no longer attend. I helped the students with their math, reading, and English. I was the teacher's assistant there, too. Unfortunately, I don't have any references to give, because most of this was only volunteering because of my disability, and I never got anyone's numbers, but I would love the opportunity to help out with whatever you need, and whatever times you need, and I would love for you to meet me and get to know me.
