Hello, my name is Karla! I am a UTSA graduate student and have earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health with a minor in Sociology. While at UTSA, I tutored college students in algebra and received my College Reading and Learning Association certification. Currently, I am a part-time vision therapist for the largest vision therapy clinic in the nation. At the Optometry Center for Vision Therapy, I help various age groups; from toddlers to older adults, improve their visual deficiency skills. Some of these deficiencies can be due to learning-related vision disorders (related to reading, spelling, math, and/or writing), specifically in children. I have also worked closely with infants, and children on other occasions, such as my time working at the Kids Playhouse Daycare in Harlingen, Texas where I cared for infants and toddlers, prepared their food, and ensured their overall health and well-being. I can communicate in Spanish Read more as well as cook, clean, and care for pets if needed. Throughout my various experiences, caring for others has always been a huge focus. I value helping others and giving them all the support they need. I am currently available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
