I am currently a student at the University of Texas-Dallas; and a candidate for a second Bachelors degree in Molecular Biology. I have had many years of experience with children of various ages and backgrounds, ever since high school when I first participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in 2006. I was a big sister until 2009. Not long after, I began volunteering as an after-school mentor for teenagers from Vietnam to help them acclimate with the American culture. I became a part-time tutor during the school year for a local youth center for middle school children and ran a prep course during the summer to prepare for their Texas annual assessment test (STAAR) in reading and math subjects. To prepare for this job, I have had previous training in first-aid and child CPR, however I do plan to renew this certification very soon. In 2011, I began Read more working at a daycare where I spent my days with younger children ages 2-5, prepping them for pre-school and keeping their minds stimulated with projects and made sure that they stayed well fed. In 2013, my baby niece was born and I helped take on helping my sister raise her for the first year of her life, while my sister was coping with postpartum depression and my brother in law, working full-time. I genuinely love children and their welfare is my priority!
