I have over 25 years of experience in early childhood education. I have raised four children of my own, and have spent the last 6 years as the Curriculum Coordinator/Pre-K Teacher at one of Houston's most premier private schools. Prior to that, I spent five years as the Education Coordinator for NASA at the Johnson Space Center. I firmly believe that children learn and retain information when they are having fun. I am looking to facilitate a "Learning Pod" of four to six pre-k students that I can teach in someone's home. Covid-19 has changed the landscape of how our children are learning, and online learning is simply not effective for everyone. I would implement a program that engages and excites students and encourages them to think outside the box. All learning domains will be thoroughly covered through a wide variety of enriching activities such as cooking, outdoor play, and Read more exploration, music, dance, drama, and storytelling. Students will be encouraged to engineer and build, create artwork, master phonics and pre-reading (or begin reading if they are ready), learn basic math and geometry concepts, and dabble in safe, fun science experiments. I would like to include socially-distant field trips (public library, Houston Zoo, Arboretum, museums, etc.) to enhance our learning. I am fun, patient, loving, and energetic and can provide excellent references upon request.
