I am Miya Parker, a 24-year-old student at the University of Houston-Downtown. I am currently pursuing my last year in the undergraduate bachelor's program for Early Childhood through 6th grade education. I’ve worked with the YMCA for 4+ years with all age groups, stemming from infant to teenagers. I’ve also served as afternoon counselor in a few elementary schools, which is where it became to clear to me that I desired to work with children for the rest of my life. I’ve babysat and ultimately became more like a big sister to 8+ families. I’ve worked in the Aldine ISD district at elementary schools and served community hours there. I’ve taken many courses regarding communication with children, productive activities, safety and precautionary actions and more.
