Hi! I’m Sydney! My passions are kiddos, music, cats and cartoons. I graduated from Mediatech with a certificate in recording arts and have previously been a full time nanny for one family with 3 kids, and a part time nanny for 5 children. I would often have all 8 at once (Ages 1,3,5,6,7,8,10 and 13) as the mothers were best friends so I’d have them all. Honestly, I thrived and loved taking care of that many children and very seldom felt overwhelmed. I enjoyed the experience so much and felt very good at it that I’ve decided (one day!) I’d like lots of kids of my own too. I don’t have any kids of my own yet though and have my own transportation and clean driving record. I also used to drive one of the mothers’ minivans to haul all the kids around to their events/preschools etc. So I’m not Read more against school pick ups and the like. I also did a very steady amount of house cleaning when I was full time for the family with 3 children. I would religiously keep the kitchen area clean and free of dishes and living room picked up and vacuumed as well for when the parents arrived home. I actually prefer being able to keep the area I’m going to be spending most of my time in clean. It’s hard to help with homework on a sticky table! I also used to spend some days going upstairs and cleaning the children’s rooms and play room (with a little help from them of course, we make cleaning a game). I even regularly cleaned out the kids’ goldfish bowl. Basically- I am not the nanny who will leave you dishes in the sink, mac and cheese on the stove or toys all over the floor. On a different note- I was also teaching preschool to the youngest child while the two older were in school then would stay till 6. I was given a budget by the family and prepared with all of the proper workbooks, flash cards etc from the teacher store. The child was attending an expensive preschool and could not recite their ABCs- after a couple months at home with me instead they were writing the alphabet, doing basic addition and subtraction, learning how to rhyme, learning sight words, etc. Basically I love doing early learning and can help with that sort of need! Essentially 2nd grade and under- I’m your gal! Some of my favorite activities with kids include sidewalk chalk, play dough, paints and crafts, reading, jump rope, playing with dolls, hide and seek, trampolines, soccer, board games, coloring, legos and building sets and baking! I love to bake a good cookie! If music is a big part of your families life- even better! I’ve been playing guitar and ukulele for 8 years, have given children guitar lessons, can play keyboard and of course professionally sing. So a jam session with your little ones can certainly be in order! I can also video game it up with the older kiddos too but prefer to keep that to a minimum during my time with your kids unless told otherwise. I also try to minimize iPad and device time if parents allow or want- I feel I can make better use of the time I’m being paid for and feel guilty to just watch kids sit there for hours on screens. I like to keep technology fun but reasonable. I’m 26 so I feel old enough that Ive developed great patience and responsibility, but am still young enough to have kids talk to me like I’m not an old grandma and have the energy to ride a razor scooter too!(: The kids I used to nanny would often ask me “Sydney, are you a grown up or a kid? Haha so I think that explains me as a caretaker perfectly! Oh and I also forgot to add I’m very pet friendly! I’ll care of your fur friends too!
