I love children! I am a retired Massage Therapist (20+ yrs.), but rather than just be "retired", I would much rather be BUSY! I have raised two wonderful children, who have grown up to be caring, responsible adults. When they were very young, I ran a daycare in my home. This not only helped with expenses, but it provided a great environment for my children (and others) to have lots of social interaction, while getting to enjoy being children in a safe environment. When my children were in High School, I became a Massage Therapist. My sister and I opened a Massage Therapy clinic (The Stress Clinic) in Lockhart, and for over twenty years, we ran a very successful business. It was not only fun, but it was very fulfilling to be able to help so many people. However, after we sold our business and retired, I went back to Read more my first love, children. I went to work at a child care center . I was required to take early childhood education classes (and take additional classes throughout the year), become certified in First Aid and CPR, and pass an extensive background check. I worked in the infant room, caring for 4 - 6 children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 months. While I thoroughly enjoyed my work, when I was told there would soon be seven children in my room, I had to resign. Four kids was perfect; five kids was difficult; six kids was very difficult; seven kids would have made it impossible for me to give enough attention to any of them, especially due to their ages. I really enjoyed the eighteen months I worked there, and I'm looking forward to working with children again. They allow you to see the world through their eyes, and you get to enjoy the sheer wonder of it!
