Hi, my name is Ty Smith! A little background on me: I grew up in a small town in Texas called Lampasas and was raised primarily by my amazing mother. After graduating high school, I moved to San Marcos, TX to attend Texas State University. I spent my first two years as a dance major but then realized that wasn't where my passion lied, it resided with helping others. I decided to go to Medical Assitant school while still attending TXST to see if that truly was the path meant for me, and well, it was! I switched my major over to nursing and got a job as a Direct Care Staff and worked with six Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled (IDD) residents. These residents are all non-communicative and wheelchair-bound so care for them consisted of full assistance getting them in and out of bed, showering, dressing, brushing their teeth, and Read more entertaining them (playing with toys, reading to them, or putting on the tv/music). This job gave me so much joy and fully cemented my commitment to pursuing my nursing career. I currently now attend Texas State University in Round Rock at the nursing school here and couldn't be happier!
