Hello! My name is Emma and I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in Utah and lived in the South Jordan-area for most of my life. For the past 3 years I have been attending Utah Valley University and have been living in the Orem/Provo area. I recently moved to Las Vegas. I am working towards a degree in theater with a performance emphasis. I am the eldest of three girls, I have two little sisters ages 7 and 10. Because of the 11-year age gap, I was teasingly called the 'built-in babysitter' as soon as my first sister was born! My sisters love it when I watch them nowadays and I enjoy opportunities to have them over. We play games, make crafts, go to the park, paint our nails, prepare meals together and so many other things! I love working with people! All of my jobs Read more from high school on have been in customer service. I've done a range of things from being a cashier, a waitress, a receptionist, and an inbound call center agent. I also spent five months volunteering as an English teacher with the International Language Program (ILP) in Changzhou, China. While I was there, I was in charge of preparing and teaching lessons to second-graders Monday-Thursday. We, the other volunteers and myself, split the kids in the program into six groups of 12-13 kids each and taught them in a rotation of 30 minutes per group. On Fridays, I prepared a different type of lesson and taught two large second-grade classes and one large third-grade class for 50 minutes each. The teaching method of ILP is such that it was more like organized play sessions than traditional classes. We had different subjects, like kitchen, arts and crafts, drama, and games, where the children would learn English while doing regular activities, just the way a child growing up in an English-speaking home would. For example, they would learn the word for an egg or for milk while helping make cookies; or the word for paper and crayons during coloring sessions. Volunteering with that program was one of the most amazing experiences of my life because I valued being able to teach and help those children. When it was time to go home I had a really hard time saying goodbye to all of the wonderful kids that I had grown to love. As far as personal interests, I am a largely creative person. I love to act, paint, read, and write. I am environmentally friendly and try to do what I can to take care of the earth. I also enjoy traveling, experiencing new cultures, and meeting new people!
