Hello! My name is Camila and I am a university student studying to become a pediatric psychologist. My passion in life is children and being a positive guide as they come to grow and learn more about the world. I am young, but I have been an active child care provider since I was in grade school. I lived on military bases growing up and much of that involved us kids taking care of each other with me being the oldest most times. Because of the nature of how I learned how to be a caretaker, I have to say my biggest asset is being able to work with large groups of kids on my own. I have experience with all age groups, but I will say most of my experience is with early childhood (toddlers/pre-school). In recent years, I have nannied for two families- one of which is a Read more family of 5! The oldest being 16 and youngest being toddler twins. A little about me! - I am a military brat and have lived in many places including Hawaii! (I was even a hula dancer at one time) - My family is Puerto Rican and I am fluent in Spanish, but weirdly enough my accent became influenced by so many different cultures as I polished it in university that now it's not exactly a Puerto Rican or American accent! Not even I know what to call it at this point... - I love comics and casual video games! (I confess that I may be a little intense when I play Mario Kart...) However, while I do enjoy video/media entertainment and I may shamefully binge watch a whole show in one sitting from time to time, with children I prefer to be anti-screen and high energy reading/story-telling is one of my favorite playtime activities. - I have a sweet tooth, but I usually choose natural sweets like fruit over candy: strawberries are my favorite! I have worked in daycare systems before, however I find more value in at-home care and personally tending to a family's needs and dedicating myself to the proper care, health, and education of a one family unit. I love cooking for kids and I pride myself in being able to serve more than just mac n cheese to them! As someone who studies human development, I place a great deal of importance on the proper development of children, particularly when it comes to education and emotional wellbeing. At the end of the day, my biggest priority when caring for children is properly meeting a child's physical and emotional needs. With that said, I do want to share that I have a great amount of experience with children with special needs. Mostly Autism, ADHD, emotional regulation difficulties, and down syndrome.
