Hello there! My name is Shannon Smith and I am a Junior nursing major at James Madison University. As cliche as it may sound, when I realized my calling toward nursing, it was like being handed a missing piece that fit perfectly into the puzzle of my life. I have experience as a nanny as well as a caretaker. I have been a nanny for children ranging from 1-12 years old, and I have a fair amount of experience as an in-home caretaker. I spent two years caring for a man who suffered a brain injury and as a result has short term memory loss. I provided meal preparation, transportation, and companionship while in this position. I also spent a summer traveling to and from dialysis with a patient who suffered from dementia. I am commonly described as energetic, caring, and adventurous. I am CPR certified and have over 90 hours of clinical experience providing care as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
