  • Comfortable with pets

Currently, I am looking for an early morning job where I can assist in getting children ready for school. I'm also available for evening and weekend jobs. I am a former elementary school teacher and camp counselor, turned nanny! After spending 3 years teaching in elementary school (grades 1 and 3), I became a nanny because I wanted the opportunity to work one on one with children and introduce them to so many more experiences than the classroom allowed. I am certified to teach elementary school, as well as TESOL, and keep up with my professional development in both areas. I've spent the last 4 years working as a nanny for one family, while babysitting and volunteering in schools in my spare time. My commitment to the children I care for drives me to continue learning and growing as a caregiver and educator, and I love learning new skills to Read more share with my charges. As a nanny I'm able to help with homework, teach kids how to read or swim, and come up with countless art projects and science activities. Some of my favorite activities include making everlasting bubbles and teaching kids how to knit or crochet. I also love being outdoors, and think many activities can be improved when we take them outside for some sunshine and fresh air! I'm comfortable swimming, and taught two former charges to swim and feel comfortable in the deep end of our local pool. Both passed their deep water test on my watch. Because of my classroom experience, I'm comfortable working with larger groups of kids, though I joke that 15 is probably my limit. My classroom experience has also given me some unique perspectives which I'm able to bring into nannying. I'm very comfortable helping with homework, communicating with teachers, and helping my charges to grow academically. I have always owned pets, and currently have a cat at home. Much like kids, I'm comfortable with large groups of pets, and pet sit on weekends, so I'm happy to nanny for any furry charges as well! My biggest goal is to have a positive impact on the kids I work with. I am proud and touched by the fact that former charges and former students reach out to me, or specifically ask for me to be their babysitter. There is so much more to me and my experiences than can be fit into a box, and I'd love to share more about myself and learn more about your family and their needs. If you think I may be a good fit, please reach out! *additional references are available after further discussion*
