Hello, I am 23 years old and I have recently finished working at an environmental consulting firm in Fredericksburg. I am currently taking classes on the side as I prepare to enter the University of Virginia's master's program for speech language pathology in August of 2013. I would love to undertake work that provides me with more experience in working with people, and since I am considering work within a school setting, taking care of children would be ideal. I have taken care of children of a wide variety of ages and am known for helping the kids have fun with special activities and interactive play. Here are some examples of my child care experience: --Caring for five children, ages 3 through 10, for a week at a time during the summer. --Caring for two boys, ages 2 and 4, for several hours at a time. The 3-year-old and I had fun playing games while I kept a close watch on the inquisitive 14-month-old. --Volunteering--playing with children, ages 1 through 10, both indoors and outdoors at a shelter for battered women. --Volunteering--assisting boys, ages 7 through 14, at an orphanage in Peru in remedial math classes before playing outside and exchanging lessons in English and Spanish. --Volunteering--assisting elementary school age English as a Second Language (ESL) students in learning about a variety of subjects. Some additional services that I can provide are: Tutoring--In addition to the experience in tutoring listed within my volunteer experience above, I also have a number of other tutoring experiences. For example, I have assisted native Spanish speakers in learning English. I have also helped a high school student learn Spanish. Cooking--I love to cook and would be more than happy to prepare delicious, healthy, and kid-friendly meals for your children.  Cleaning--I have worked cleaning houses before and so am more than capable of assisting with any cleaning needs that you might have. Pet Care--I have cared for neighbors' pets before and have always had pets of my own. My pets have included dogs, cats, turtles, gerbils, geckos, and parakeets. I have also worked on an organic farm and cared for nearly 130 chickens while there. I would be happy to provide several glowing references that can speak to the loving and responsible care that I am able to provide.
