I've baby-sat since I was 12 years old and I have always, always loved kids. In middle school, I spent my gym periods with the contained class for kids with special needs, interacting and helping with kids who had Downs Syndrome, Autism, and other developmental delays to varying degrees. In both middle and high school, I baby-sat as regularly as I could, including often my own younger siblings and children in the neighborhood. In college, I was an after-school and before-school nanny for kids in elementary and middle school, and full-time for kids during the summer. I have worked with a young boy with cerebral palsy when he was 11-13, helping with his physical program and his schooling. In graduate school, I interned working with kids with mental health concerns, including bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, depression, and eating disorders. This past summer, I've been a nanny for my sister, watching Read more my nephew who is an infant. I have been certified with CPR and First Aid in the past, but my licensure has lapsed. I'm educated as a social worker and have a strong handle on child development and needs of children at different ages. I'm committed to reading to children daily and making sure they get outside in the fresh air. I also am committed to providing healthy meals rather than boxed meals when available.
