With a bachelor of science degree in elementary and early childhood education with a minor in science, I have taught children and adults of all ages in a variety of settings and subjects over the past 40 years. Teaching for years in public and private elementary schools, as well as day cares and preschools as a teacher and director, my husband and I also helped our church start a preschool where I was the lead teacher and director of the school. In the past two years I have tutored a three-year-old girl three mornings a week while she and her parents were home during the pandemic. After a year together, she tested two years ahead in reading and math, and was accepted into a private Montessori school. For over a year now, I have been serving another lovely family with three children under five years old and two large dogs Read more three full days each week while the mother works from home. With two daughters with special needs, my husband and I homeschooled them from birth through high school. The oldest is married, finished her bachelor's degree and is working in the area, while our youngest is currently working and taking college classes. We have two large dogs and a cat. My passions are gardening, reading, exploring outdoors, cooking healthy foods of all kinds, serving in my church, volunteering, being with my family and pets, and assisting children to love to learn and grow in developmentally appropriate activities that cultivate their natural curiosity and sense of wonder in exploring their world. While serving as a girl leader in a Fairfax American Heritage Girls troop with my family for many years as my girls were growing up, we enjoyed camping, hiking, and many more adventures together. I have a wealth of materials, wisdom, and experiences that I have collected over the past 40 years of educating children that I would love to share with your children. I will love them unconditionally, expand their horizons with lots of knowledge and imagination, and encourage them to try new things with a sense of adventure.
