Hi there - I'm Anita! Education: I recently completed a degree in Human Development and Family Science (I know - quite a mouthful! We usually just say HDFS) at George Mason University. I'm passionate about education and love working with children. Childcare Experience: The core of my work experience has been with children with disabilities and their siblings. My younger sister has autism and is hard of hearing, so caregiving and helping kids with special needs has always a major, important part of my life. I started working as a "mothers helper" at age 14 and I have worked as a babysitter or nanny for several years since then. Recently: Most recently, I was a part-time nanny for a family with two young girls - a very active, young toddler and a bright early elementary schooler who loves books and adventures in nature - for almost 3 years. The girls Read more were 7 months & 3 years old respectively when I began, and 3.5 & 6 when they moved out of state. Prior to that, I worked for two families better part of the previous five years - usually part-time, but anywhere from full-time to once a month as their needs evolved. One family has a young boy with autism and ADHD (aged 6-11) and a neurotypical girl (aged 2-7). The other family has two little girls (aged 2-6 and 6-10), the older of which has ADHD. Coaching and Leadership: I coached Girls on the Run for two years and I was a Girl Scout for 13. It is important to me to help girls and young women learn confidence, leadership, and self-love so that they can grow and thrive. I also worked coach children and young adults with disabilities in swimming (Adaptive Aquatics) and baseball (Challenger Little League - though my team is currently a Senior League). I also have experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and families, though not in a formal capacity. Other work experience: Currently, I work at a mental health program in Fairfax where I facilitate groups and provide 1:1 support to the clients as needed. I have experience as a Personal Assistant too -especially for working parents. I'm happy to help run errands, do laundry, and otherwise make your life a bit easier! I also worked at McLean high school as an office assistant from August 2016 - June 2018. Please feel free to message me with any questions! I'm looking forward to hearing from you! - Anita
