I am Laura from Colombia. Ever since I was little, I've always been interested making children smile and laugh, it truly brings me joy to be able to spend time with kids and make them happy. The first experience I had with a baby was when my little brother was born when I was 10 years old. I was the happiest girl in the world because I was able to spend a lot of time with my brother by helping and learning how to take care of him from my mother. At that early age I learned a lot about caring for a baby: how to hold my baby brother in my arms, how to change his diapers, how to prepare meals for him, etc. Later on when in high school, I focused my studies in pedagogy. In the last two years of high school, I spent a lot of Read more time with children in the classroom, helping them with reading and writing in addition to helping to create a great learning environment in the classroom. After high school, I enrolled in the Pedagogy program for 1 year. In this time I learned about childcare, child education and psychology. During this year, I also volunteered in a pre-school class where I worked with a group of 10 children, ages 1-2. I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. I am also a person who enjoys the arts and music. I sing and play several instruments including guitar, bass guitar, piano and drums. My long term goal is to combine my two passions and earn a master’s degree in Music Therapy. But first, I would like to continue working with babysitting. I have had the opportunity to work with children in different scenarios and I have loved it. I recently finished a job as a nanny in Washington D.C. I worked with two amazing kids, 9 and 11, for 14 months. My duties included: taking care of the children, cleaning the house, cooking and shopping, driving the children to school, dog sitting and other activities. I’m a good driver. I've also helped my cousin taking care of her two boys, aged 4 and 5. I am a responsible, organized, loving, energetic, creative, funny, musical and committed person, and I’m searching for a caring family in Washington DC that values these qualities in a babysitter.
