Hello! My name is Carrie and I am excited to get to know you and your family! I have over 3 years of experience, including over 2 year’s employment as a preschool teacher where I worked with children ages infant through 10, including close work with special needs kiddos. I love working with children and strongly believe that children need to make their own choices to learn and grow. As such, when caring for children I feel it is best to have them choose activities and paths, while still helping them to follow rules and grow safely. I also believe it is important for children to experience a multitude of cultures and adventures, and I do my best to bring that into their world. Next fall I will be attending Washington State University for Biological Neurosciences and then continue on to Law School. Eventually, I hope to work with a nonprofit as a Juvenile Justice Attorney, bringing vital counsel to underserved and underprivileged youth. Additionally, I am comfortable around pets, including large dogs, I do not partake in any kind of drugs and alcohol use, I have reliable transportation and am comfortable driving children, and I am proficient in French. Aside from babysitting, my main experience with childcare comes from my job. I worked at a local daycare after school and during breaks as a Pre-School teacher for over two years and my day to day responsibilities include caring for a class of up to 10 children ages 2-5, supervising play, nap times, snacks, and craft activities. In the event that there is over 10 children in my classroom, I work with an assistant teacher. I also often work with other ages such as infants and school aged children, as well as children with special needs. As part of this job I have obtained a portable background check from DCYS as well as training including the 30 hour STARS training, infant safe sleep training, head trauma training, and more.
