Meet Jasmine

Hello there! To whoever this may concern, I am a returning senior business student at GCU. My vision is to build trust and empower children in their social and emotional skills. My mission is to facilitate a safe and play-based environment. I volunteered at several church communities as a group leader for summer day camps, wishing the days would never end. This last school year, I became a year long committed teacher with Magnolia Forest Preschool and fell even more in love with the atmosphere of working with kids. In a team of four, we worked with 18 students, five days a week, to help improve and monitor their social-emotional developmental skills. We worked with ages ranging from two and a half to six. Our responsibility every day in the forest was to monitor, verbal map, and scaffold the five different stages of play the students engaged in. Most days also consist of Read more hiking the park boundaries, engaging in my very own art sessions, reading from our classroom library bag, story telling, and just trying to survive Washington's rough weather conditions. At the end of the school year, I finished completing a personal project for the families as a going away gift. I captured precious portraits of each child during the school year and the business owners of Magnolia generously printed and laminated each photo.  When my contract ended, I was asked by several parents for family portraits and to continue to spend time with their children in their homes over the summer before I had to move back to Arizona. I felt exhilarated and blessed with a sense of purpose when I knew I could be of great help! One of those parents had a family of four, ages ranging from two to 10. While their wonderful parents earned a date night together, I stayed fully engaged and provided many fun activities from my past experiences such as acrylic painting, face painting, math based board games, park play/picnic dates, cooking/baking, reading/writing, and most importantly, imaginative play. Imaginative play is so important for ages ranging from two to six, as this will sharpen their skills in divergent thinking, self-regulation, empowerment and symbolic thinking, which leads to reading and mathematical reasoning. I am also available in caring for or being around family pets as I have a German Shepard of my own! I truly hope I can be of significant help with my qualifications and background skills provided.
