Hi, my name is Bahia, I am 34 years old and I have my master's degree in marriage, family, and child counseling. For the past 7 years I have been a nanny, splitting my time between multiple families, almost all of whom have had at least two children ranging from 3 months old to 7 years old. Before nannying I worked at an autism center for 5 years, first as a behavior therapist, and eventually as a clinical supervisor. At this job I worked one on one with children ranging from 18 months of age to 15 years old. At this job I was trained in methods of language development and behavior management. While working at the autism center and completing my master’s degree I also interned as a marriage and family therapist trainee for two years, and approximately half of my caseload consisted of children. I occasionally babysat while in high school and as an undergrad. I have also been a very involved aunt to a now 14-year-old girl and 12-year old twins. Saving my best experience for last, I am the proud mama to a sweet boy who was born in March 2021. I am currently looking for a part time job that I can bring my son to, or date night/weekend jobs when I can leave my son with his dad if needed. I have been bringing my son to work with ume since he was 6 months old, so he is very used to it. I will not favor my child while on the job, I see this as a great way to teach him to share toys and attention with other children. This is where we put everything we learned to use. We had an actual day care in our school and we worked directly with those children. The day care was in the same class room we learned in. We created lesson plans for our kids and were really hands on every day. I didn't pursue child care after high school. However, my love of taking care of people didn't fade. I opted for direct patient care as a Dialysis Technician. This has equipped me with the basic knowledge for emergencies as well. I am trained in Adult and Children First Aid/CPR/AED. I now work for Penwizard, which is a company that makes personalized children's books. I run the customer service end and manage all reseller orders. I'm currently attending Olympic College to get my Psychology degree and i thought having a babysitting job would be great while going to school! I love taking care and being around children! I use to watch my neighbor when he was about 7 years old until he turned like 10 years old. We would watch movies, do arts and crafts, find fun games to play together and sometimes we'd go to the park in our neighbor hood. I also took care of a family's friend son who was 4 years old at the time. We would play and put music and dance around and he always had tons of fun. I am really good with kids, I know how to calm them down if they're upset and I usually know what they need in order to be happy if they have been upset. I also used to be a tutor for Poulsbo Elementary. I would help them with their reading and we would work on things they would struggle with.
