I have always loved being around kidos and taking care/hanging out with them, and during my senior year of high school was when I came to the realization of the extent of my love for caregiving. What started out as a 70-hour min senior project of community service, turned into the best part of my week. I volunteered at Seattle Children's hospital weekly (and on holidays) for 3-6 hours- 3 is the max given unless permission is given to work another shift. Being at Seattle Children's Hospital taught me so much, but the most important lesson I learned was that all kids need to have fun, whether that be a more low key activity such as having princess day where we paint nails and have a tea party, or a high energy adventure like going outside and running around with a soccer-ball. One of my favorite experiences of Children's Hospital was holding the babies and playing with the toddlers; their optimism and curiosity always brightened my day. My other experiences include working as an Alki Parks and Recreation summer school art assistant, babysitting throughout high school, and I currently work with a five year old and a 9 month year old on and off as a part time nanny. Working as a assistant art teacher was amazing; I am a very artsy and creative person, and I love creating art with kids while helping them to develop their 'creative side'. When I babysit kids, I always try to have an art activity planed or an 'adventure of the day' planed; making paper flowers, painting, writing a story and adding pictures, going to the park, going to the zoo...ect. My number one goal when I spend time with kids is to have fun in a safe environment!
