Seattle schools are going remote and you may be looking for someone who provides supervision AND supports your child as a student as well. My co-teacher, Evan, and I are hoping to provide a solution that will offer supervision & structure while your student is getting the most out of distance learning by directing focus during "live" instruction time with their teacher while also assisting with any connectivity or computer issues. More importantly, we want to help your student fully understand and learn from their schoolwork as they complete their assignments from "live" instruction time. I am a certified secondary social studies teacher in Maryland with 4 years of teaching experience in well-funded school environments to Title I school environments. My BS is in History from Bowie State University (an HBCU in MD) with a focus on African and African American History. I am also currently working on my MEd Read more at American University in Education Policy and Leadership and am a Fulbright Scholar. Why am I not already teaching in Seattle? Unfortunately, as a fairly recent newcomer, I need one more geography class to get my WA certificate. I have adept experience with tailoring curriculum & assignments to students with IEPs and 504 plans, as well as for Honors and AP students. I am raising 2 new adults and homeschooled them for 2 years in primary school. Evan has a degree in East Asian Studies with a minor in Secondary Language Acquisition, 2 years of experience teaching ESOL, & is conversational in Japanese. I will be assisting students with their schoolwork assignments from "live" instruction, Evan, my co-teacher, will be assisting students participating in their "live" sessions, by maintaining student focus while also handling any technical issues as they arise. If you are interested in starting a distance learning co-op, we are also looking to proctor a closed cohort of 6-8 students from elementary through high school (w/ proof of vaccination). We are both fully vaxxed and boosted, are homebodies, & are flexible in regards to student grouping. We are in Portage Bay, & are conveniently located near the intersection of Harvard Ave E and E Allison St. We would prefer to host here as the space is properly divided, internet bandwidth is plentiful, & Covid sanitizing procedures are in place to facilitate students participating in "live" instruction while those completing assigned work simultaneously. *We have two cats *CVs and aftercare options on Request
