I’ve been babysitting since I was old enough to stay home alone myself! With two younger siblings that I was left to mostly raise, I was able to form a lot of childcare experience early on in life. Most recently, my 8 year old brother (born when I was in high school) - mom worked a lot, so I did most of the leg work in raising him. In my professional experience, I worked as a course instructor at a zipline and adventure course in Chicago, IL. Kids and adults from all ages and walks of life came to take risks, test their limits, and try something new. It was up to me to encourage them through their hesitations, and safely guide them through these fun experiences. It allowed me so much hands on experience with all different types of kids.
