I'm a recent transplant to the Seattle area via Portland, Oregon. I'm fully settled and loving it here. I began my childcare career working in Berkeley, California at a preschool and at a Montessori elementary school in 2003. I moved back to Portland in 2006 where I became a nanny and worked with several families with children ranging in ages of five months to eight years old. While most of my time spent working in Portland was as a nanny, the last year and a half I was employed as an assistant preschool teacher for a wonderful in home preschool in Portland. We focused a lot of time and energy on early literacy and kindergarten readiness. Other than working full time I also attended part time college, majoring in psychology with an emphasis on early childhood development and autism. I'm one year away from my Bachelors degree. I find childcare mentally and emotionally satisfying in ways that other jobs simply cannot compete with. What makes me good at my job is that I'm a very patient person with a healthy level of empathy. I'm also open minded and flexible. I know that every family does things differently, which I respond to with honor and respect. When working with children I look for ways to make education and development fun and rewarding. I love going outside to the many parks and coastlines. Also, anything related to the arts and sciences.
