I am the second oldest child in a family of 5 children. Growing up, I spent a lot of time helping my mom with my younger siblings: changing diapers, babysitting, making bottles. Being a mini-mom came naturally to me. Over the years, my babysitting quickly expanded beyond just my siblings, and I was the well sought after neighborhood babysitter for the majority of my high school years. Additionally, I began volunteering at my family’s church teaching classes and discovered a great excitement in helping children grow and understand both themselves and the world. I have 10+ years of experience babysitting, and was a live-in nanny for two summers during college. My responsibilities included driving the kids to swim lessons and other activities, light tutoring/reading, and meal prep. I have a BS in Family and Child Development and have experience working in a classroom setting as well as with children who Read more are twins, have ADHD, Autism, or learning disabilities. I adapt quickly to multiple ages and types of children and am able to quickly earn their trust (I say it’s my own child-like nature, and probably my lack of height). Whatever setting I am in with children, whether it be nannying or even at the grocery store, I ensure that they feel both safe and free to express themselves. Though my childcare responsibilities may have been handed to me at a young age, my desire to work with children and help them grow into holistically healthy individuals has only continued to deepen. I highly encourage exploratory learning: taking kids to the children’s museum, the library, or helping with tasks around the home. It’s important to me to not only care for the basic needs of a child but invest in them as a whole: emotionally and developmentally. I'm all about the character building. Plus, I think kids just have more fun, and growing up may just be overrated. :)
