I am a 43 year old single mother with a 17 year old daughter. I have raised her on my own. I was a single child until my family adopted my little brother when I was 10. I am 9 years older than him. I basically helped raise my little brother due to my mom being chronically ill. I am number 8 out of 23 first cousins as well, so I have definitely always grown up taking care of children! I was an athlete all through school including college. While in high school I coached my brothers basketball team for multiple years while he was in elementary school. I also babysat for friends, neighbors + family starting in the 6th grade. After I graduated from high school I took a job working for a company named Skyhawks Sports Camps. I started out coaching, I’d typically choose the youngest group of Read more kids to coach (be in charge of) Unfortunately, a lot of parents used the camps as cheaper than daycare summer plans for their kids. So I was never “just coaching”. Often it was more of a daycare type situation. I am not currently CPR/First aid certified, although I used to be. So I would need to get recertification if preferred. As a college graduate, I worked in the TV/Film industry from 2006-present. My mom did as much co-parenting with me as she could, but unfortunately passed away about 4 years ago now. When that happened I had to step back in my work to care for her and to be there for my daughter. I do still work behind the camera in the production department but it’s not a family focused type industry, and definitely not a single parent industry! So now I am in the process of rerouting my life, career/job wise. I’ve always loved children. I’m drawn to them, and they are drawn to me. Caring for children comes naturally to me, and it has a positive effect on me. Not to mention that I know how difficult parenting can be while you’re still trying to live a successful life if you don’t have help! I am all about supporting one another, positive reinforcement, helping to create a loving atmosphere for families & their children. That’s the most important thing in my opinion! I’m reliable, accountable, trustworthy, honest, loyal and kind. I realize that it may seem a bit odd because of my age, but after losing my mom & then covid… I’m just starting over like so many others are doing!
