Hello families! I'm Kate. I'm 27. I'm originally from freezing cold Wisconsin, but have been traveling almost full time since I graduated high school and moved to San Diego in 2012. I've since lived in an RV (haha) Bali, Thailand, Mexico + Costa Rica! (Bali stole my heart, but Costa Rica is a close second!) I've always, alwayssss loved kids and anyone that knows me would tell you I'm a kid magnet. Maybe it's because I was an only child? Who knows - but they're just the best!! Such geniuses, so fearless! so creative, so capable. The ultimate inspiration. Back when I was in high school I was in a Ready Set Teach program, meaning that I spent equal time at the elementary school student teaching a kindergarten class. I loved it SO much that I spent 2 years in college studying early childhood education, so sure that I wanted Read more to be a kindergarten teacher! (I didn't) But the love for impacting and interacting with kids has only grown and shifted shape since. While I was in San Diego, I became a nanny for a family who is still family to this day. Parker was only 6 weeks old when I started, and I was with them consistently for 3+ years. I cannot beliiiiieve he is almost 10 now!! We did all the things together, trips, vacations, some holidays, so leaving them when I did was like a scene out of a lifetime heartbreak movie, seriously! (I moved back to WI to be a live in caretaker for my grandmother who had just been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer). And honestly... that time period in my life changed everything for me. Witnessing my best friend lose her quality of life seemingly out of nowhere at the age of 60 really put life + "work" into perspective for me. I couldn't help but ask myself "What really matters?" "How would I spend my life, if I believed I could do anything?" That led me into entrepreneurship, and into travel! I've spent the last almost 4 years growing my online business + traveling to all of the places that were once on my "someday list". And man I have learned so much about myself, my strengths and my weaknesses in the process. My values, my skills, my passions + my patterns. Entrepreneurship has this beautiful way of allowing you to meet all of the hidden parts of you that are addicted to lack, to fear, + to playing small..... thank God! It's been a really big, open, abundant and influential few years for me. But at the root, it's taught me that connection, community and serving from a heart aligned place are really the keys to happiness. (And success) My business focuses on mind + body wellness, specifically on regulating the nervous system and integrating wholeness into who we are and how we interact in the world. The innovative approaches I take (in and out of business) are holistic, informed, grounded and rooted in the belief that we are already perfectly healthy + whole as we are. The work I do simply serves as a reminder, as a "guide post" to bring us back into that truth for an enhanced quality of life. I've served hundreds of humans via my platforms and communities online.. and now my hearts yearning to bring these practices into the lives of kids! Years later, here we are coming full circle... back at this place of deeply desiring to work with children! And truthfully nannying feels the most organic. The most raw and special, in my opinion. (I've also been a lead teacher at a 5 star nationally accredited child development center... and nannying is better!) I've just returned to the states after years abroad and I am so excited to be now living in Austin! The aliveness here feels great! My vision for the next few years is to not only continue the work I'm doing online, but to also now bring that knowledge and passion into families, into schools, into community centers, into childcare facilities, parks, etc. (This looks like kids body movement, ie. yoga, dance, etc., meditation, mindfulness practices such as gentle breathwork, etc.) I'm excited to step back into the world of nannying simply because I know that a great nanny is so much more than just a "nanny". They are an influence. A guide. A safe place, a relationship that matters deeply, and a relationship that sticks. It’s important, and it’s big! I love thinking outside the box, turning everything we possibly can into play, being extremely hands on and getting messy. The compliments I get the most in this field are for my energy, my levels of presence, my innovative approaches and my ability to deeply connect with whoever I'm sharing time with. I've worked with kids ranging in age from newborn to teenage, from "typical" to "atypical", from twins to blended families and just about everything in between. I so look forward to connecting, getting to know your hopes and dreams for a nanny/family relationship, and seeing if we are a win win win fit for one another!
