Hi families! My name is Emma, I am nineteen years old, and am from Eau Claire, WI. I do not currently live in Madison but will be living there by April 1st! I am currently in college for Elementary Education but wish to further my education after to become a principal. My classes are online (I do not have to sit in for lectures) so I have the flexibility families need! I have over 6 years of experience working in group daycare and nannying. I have worked with all age groups from infants to 12 years old and have experience working with multiple children. I absolutely love to use simple sign language for infants as well. I currently work as a nanny doing tasks such as: transportation, meal preparation, household chores, homework and errands. I am CPR/First Aid as well as have training on SIDS and shaken baby syndrome. I Read more have a care. com background check and a federal fingerprint background check. I am a non-smoker and have a reliable car with a Geico safe driving score of 99. I take COVID-19 seriously (i.e. social distancing, LOTS of sanitizing, and wearing a mask regardless of county/state ordinance) and am also vaccinated. I also adore animals so all types are more than welcome! When it comes to my approach on childcare, I love to coordinate activities for each day (usually planned a week in advance). These activities are things such as art projects, science experiments, sensory activities, and games. I also LOVE to be outdoors so any chance I can get to be outdoors with the kiddos is awesome (including winter, weather permitting). When it comes to my approach on discipline, I find it very important that the consequence to an action is correlated (child colors on wall = child helps clean color off the wall and a discussion is had on how that could make others feel). I also find a way for the child to fulfil that need in an appropriate way (“I see that you want to color, lets get you some paper.”) Furthermore, I also find it important for children to express their emotions. One of my favorite things to say is “Its ok to be sad, crying gets the sad out”. Finally, I believe that teaching consent young is important as well. I will say things like “Can I help you?” “Can I pick you up?” “Can I change your diaper?” I know that was a ton of information, but I find it all vital to say when it comes to finding the right fit for a family.
