I have worked with children for about a decade (8 years is more accurate when factoring in COVID and brief breaks with other jobs) but I have had the opportunity to work with children as young as 2 weeks (and done night shifts for couples with newborns) up to sixteen years old. I have had about five years of experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and have also had the chance to work directly with twins on multiple occasions. (To the parents that have them, I have so much respect for you - they are a lot of work). That being said, I LOVE working with children. It is a passion of mine to help children explore, learn, and grow. I love to find new ways to play and be creative with them. I am used to having to think on my feet and make something new seem appealing. I’m also very well versed in maladaptive behavior and having to find ways to decrease or shape behaviors. I have worked in Applied Behavioral Analysis (A type of behavioral therapy) for just over five years and have seen the benefits that it has with all ages and abilities of children. I am comfortable around animals (as I have a dog and cat myself). I don’t mind helping prepare snacks or meals and have potty trained at least a dozen children so working with kids that are potty training is not a problem. I do prefer to give kids opportunities to be more independent and self reliant. As well as encourage them to use communication when they are upset or trying to express themselves. I will never get angry at a child for having emotions because their feelings are valid, but I would like them to know that there are many ways to express those feelings and some of those ways are not always acceptable. I have a large amount of patience and empathy and do my best to put things into perspective for each kiddo. I like to incorporate music, social and physical play, puzzles, learning, and as many activities as possible away from screens. I am, of course, able to make adjustments to my approach if there is something your family needs or wants done.

Hi, my name is Lexii. I am 28 years old, I am a previous Lead teacher at The Nurturing Nook. I was there for 6 years, I left on great standing just looking for something different and more personal. My role was to create an age appropriate curriculum for the kids everyday. I have worked with children 6 weeks to 9 years old. Before the daycare I would babysit my cousin who is on the Autism spectrum and I helped his mom create an everyday schedule for him as well. For a brief moment in 2019-2020 I was a Behavioral Tech, going into home of children who are on the spectrum and help them with daily living.
