Lab with insulinoma care needs

Senior lab, 11 years old. Has a condition called insulinoma. Need to have a caregiver occasionally for when my husband and I aren't home to ensure our dog eats at his scheduled times so his blood sugar stays normal. His condition means that he secretes too much insulin and it drops his sugars, and he could go hypoglycemic and have a seizure.

We would prefer if someone would be comfortable with identifying signs of hypoglycemia and intervene if necessary. Our feeding schedule prevents this usually, but in the event of a hypoglycemic episode we would ask that the caregiver administer honey on our dog's gums to increase blood glucose. The symptoms are; wandering around confused, twitching and shaking - kind of like a human would exhibit.

It's a plus if you know how to take blood glucose measurements too, and if not we could teach you, - but not necessary.

Sounds complicated, but really we just want to know he's eating his food while we're gone, which goes off via automatic feeder. Sometimes he doesn't want to get up from his chair so we're really just looking for someone to tell him to eat while we're not home.

Thank you.
