I've grown up with parents actively involved in church children's ministry, and honestly? My favorite part of church was always the nursery. I loved to help care for the babies, even as young as 6 and 7, when I was one myself. When I was old enough to start babysitting on my own, it was the obvious route to take. I got away from it at around 15, when I started working in restaurants. But at 18, I moved to Athens, and there I was matched with a 7 year old with higher needs. Fo the next year, I was her nanny. It was one of the best privileges I've been afforded in my life, though it would take me time to understand that. Having a sweet bond with her mother, in particular, who was very kind and understanding, was very special to me, and she was a smart, imaginative, Read more and love-filled child. In the time since, childcare for me has looked like spending time with my nieces/nephews, and I value that time very dearly. I describe myself as very empathetic and open, and artistic. My free time usually looks like thrifting or antiquing, or some kind of arts and crafts, always with music or a friend to talk with in the background. Lately that's been hand bedazzling hand painted canvases, sewing, or making jewelry. If a movie or show is on, I can't help myself from dissecting it, and analyzing it. I think schoolwork is a top priority, and every child has the potential to be a great student, they just need to be held in the right light, and guided towards their goals in a respectful manner. And heard, I feel like children yearn to be listened to and feel understood. I think I'm not so bad at that lol. I might not be the person for every family, but I would like to think there's one or two families in this area that I would get along with well. And honestly, I miss having little lights in my life.
