Hello wonderful family, My name is Joelle, and I am an seasoned babysitter and early-childhood educator of 7+ years. With my diverse work experiences as a babysitter, lead pre-k teacher, nanny and more I can certainly attest to the popular phrase - "actions speak louder than words" ! I strive to teach this to children of all ages in my care through mindful play that encourages language development and self-expression. Growing up in a large African-American and Filipino-American family has taught me to be highly family-oriented and hard-working. My upbringing has also helped me instill a passion for learning about different cultures, languages and religions. I am currently a beginner Spanish speaker with hopes to use the language more often on my travels and at work. One of my fondest moments as an educator was watching one of my 3 year-old students, Sitora, describe her drawing of a butterfly to Read more me with her hands. She made the shape of a butterfly with her two palms together, and fluttered her fingers to me when I could not understand what was in her drawing during class. I was completely blown away in that moment! In addition to my experiences working at daycare centers and preschools, I have been entrusted to the children of my family members, as well as the children of family friends and referrals since the age of 16. I especially enjoy helping little ones express themselves through art and dance, and preparing nutritious meals for them whenever needed. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
