Hi, families! My name is Janiya, and I am a caring, dependable educator with experience working with children from kindergarten through middle school. I currently teach elementary school and previously worked as a kindergarten teacher, after-school tutor, teacher assistant, recreation and sports leader, and track and field coach. I have also provided unpaid babysitting for family members and people I know. I love being a sitter because I enjoy helping children feel safe, supported, confident, and comfortable. As a teacher, I understand that every child has a different personality, learning style, and set of needs. I am patient, attentive, organized, and able to create a positive balance between fun, learning, structure, and routine. My experience includes supervising children, planning age-appropriate activities, helping with homework, tutoring in reading and other subjects, supporting social-emotional development, and encouraging positive behavior. My teaching and coaching background has also helped me develop strong leadership, safety awareness, patience, and the ability to remain calm and responsible. Because I am a full-time teacher, I am available during weekday evenings only. I have open availability on weekends, including daytime, evening, and nighttime care.
