Why do you love being a sitter? I love being a sitter because I enjoy building meaningful connections with children and helping them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I find it incredibly rewarding to support children with different needs and abilities, helping them engage with the world in ways that are meaningful to them. Being able to provide families with peace of mind while creating a positive and nurturing environment for their children is something I truly value. What experience do you have? I have several years of experience caring for children and teenagers with significant developmental and special needs. Many of the individuals I have worked with are nonverbal and require a high level of daily support. Although they are teenagers, they often function at much younger developmental levels and require individualized care tailored to their specific needs and abilities. My responsibilities have included assisting with diaper changes Read more and personal hygiene, meal preparation and feeding assistance, supervision during activities, managing daily routines, providing emotional support, and ensuring a safe environment at all times. I have experience using alternative forms of communication, recognizing nonverbal cues, and building trust with individuals who communicate in unique ways. Through this experience, I have learned how important patience, consistency, and compassion are in providing quality care. What skills and training do you have? I am patient, dependable, attentive, and highly adaptable. My experience caring for individuals with special needs has strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, respond appropriately to behavioral challenges, and meet complex care needs with dignity and respect. I am skilled at maintaining structured routines, assisting with personal care, encouraging engagement through age-appropriate and ability-appropriate activities, and communicating effectively with both children and their families. Above all, I am committed to creating a safe, supportive, and caring environment where every child and teen feels valued, understood, and respected.
