Hi! My name is Katie and I'm a 22-year-old recent college graduate. I am relocating to Providence this summer to being working at Providence College as a part-time Residence Director while working towards a master’s degree in Higher Education. I have been a babysitter since the age of 13, that was how old you had to be to take the Red Cross Babysitting Certification Course that my town offered. I have 13 younger cousins, so I've been around children my whole life. Throughout high school and college, I've babysat on weekends for families in my neighborhood at home in Connecticut and near my college in Boston. I would describe myself as compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to whatever I take on. I love working with children because they are creative, curious, and bright thinkers. I am looking to continue working part time with children as I continue my education in Providence. Read more I spent my summer breaks babysitting for a couple families in Connecticut, including most recently two boys ages 4 and 7. Some of our favorite activities included going for scavenger hunt walks around their neighborhood, playing baseball and board games, and testing out new recipes in the kitchen. While I was in college I also worked for a family in Boston a few days a week. I would pick the kids up from school, bring them home, make them a snack, and help them with their homework. I also volunteered regularly at an after school program in Boston where I helped tutor elementary school students. I have been a swimmer for as long as I can remember, and I am also a certified lifeguard. In college, I was also a Resident Assistant for three years. I have learned a number of different crisis management techniques from this job, as well as communication and conflict meditation skills. All of this experiences have made me comfortable and confident carrying for children.
