Hello! I have many years of experience working with children ages 2-12. On top of being a part-time sitter, I was a volunteer Self-Contained ESE aide from 2015-2020, where I was working with children with Autism, (ages ranging from 2-10), many of which were non-verbal and used PECS or text-to-speech programs on an iPad to communicate. Immediately after graduating with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education, I began working as an educator with a general education 2nd grade class in 2023, where I was teaching all core subjects using hands-on based activities as often as I could. I was also responsible for teaching our grade-level struggling readers with SIPPS Challenge intervention. I then transitioned to working as a Special Education Teacher Assistant, where I'm working with students ranging from ages 3 to 12 in all core subject areas, (I work with Pre-K, K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th every day), Read more many of which are students with ADHD, Dyslexia, Emotional Disturbances, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, along with one specific student of mine having Cerebral Palsy. I will also be taking over a Self-Contained ESE classroom this fall, which will be focused on students with more extreme cases of behavioral and/or social-emotional deficits. I am also CPR and First Aid Certified, and love cooking and baking! I prioritize the social-emotional development of all aged children, as their development of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills are the foundations of a successful academic and personable life. I am also extremely passionate when it comes to helping children engage in art whenever possible, in order to foster a love for expressing themselves in a creative outlet. I truly love getting to help children explore and learn about the world; seeing their growth and reactions to their learning is so special to be a part of!
