Meet Shycorea

Hi my name is Shycorea Atkins. I am 25 years old, love taking trips, and enjoying nature. I graduated from Pitt community college in 2024 warning my early childhood degree. I have been working with kids since I was 14, I have been employed working with kids for about 5 years now. It has been one of the best career experiences for me. When I first started working early childhood education I was very nervous and anxious at the same time. I was new and didn’t know what the students would expect of me. Although I had did trainings and internships working and learning about children, I still didn’t think I would be a good teacher. After a couple of weeks the children begin to warm up to me and wanted me to be around them all the time. Once I started to gain the students attention I knew that Read more I was going to be a great teacher. After about a month or two the director ended up moving me into the one year old room and making me lead teacher. While working with young children I have learned that their minds are the ones that need the most shaping and help to keep up with the world today. I have learned new skills that I didn’t have before, for instance learning how to do lesson plans and making sure they’re developmentally appropriate. I also learned a lot about young children’s nutrition, such as how much of each item they need to receive and how to make sure the plate meets all of their nutritional needs. The biggest thing that I love about working with young children is watching them use the skills and techniques that I’ve taught them, while developing and learning. Teachers have the most important job, which is getting young children ready to take on the world in the future.
